Preparation Instructions

Most analyses do not require special preparation, except for fasting for 8 hours before the blood test.

Preparation or sample collection instructions for tests that require specific preliminary indications for the patient are included in the specific exam preparation sheets available by clicking here.

For additional requests, it is possible to contact the Blood Collection Points by email or phone during opening hours.

If the biological sample sent to the Laboratory does not meet acceptance criteria (e.g., coagulated sample, hemolyzed sample, insufficient sample, or inappropriate collection container), the Blood Collection Points will inform the patient to proceed with a new sample collection and delivery.

Considering that the use of appropriate containers for home collection of biological materials (swabs, urine, stool, etc.) is essential to ensure adequate quality of analytical services, Policlinico San Pietro and its affiliated external centers, through the blood collection points, provide these containers free of charge to outpatients.

Service Information

Pregnant women and disabled individuals have priority.

Some tests cannot be performed on Saturdays (see list).

To perform the glucose tolerance test, it is necessary to arrive no later than 8:00 AM, excluding Saturdays.
