Preparation of laboratory tests at the Istituto Clinico San Rocco

The headquarters of the San Rocco Clinical Institute is in Ome (BS) in via dei Sabbioni 24.

The Analysis Laboratory of the San Rocco Clinical Institute is a branch of the General Clinical Laboratory (Clinical Pathology - Microbiology) of the Istituti Ospedalieri Bresciani.

Access to the Blood Collection Point is direct and without reservation (for blood samples) and it is possible to carry out laboratory tests both in agreement with the National Health Service (NHS) and privately.

 

Opening hours of the blood collection point

The samples are carried out in the Blood Collection Point, subject to acceptance at the counter.

Both the Collection Point and the Acceptance of Collection Point are located on the ground floor at the end of the

hallway of “Ala Nuova”. Opening hours of acceptance:

  • Blood sampling and sample delivery: Monday to Friday from 7.30 to 9.00
  • Samples for PAP tests and urogenital swabs: Monday from 4.00 pm to 5.30 pm (tests with reservation required)
  • Urethral swab samples: Wednesday from 10.30 to 11.00 (tests with reservation required)

For the following tests, telephone booking is required at the number 030/6529100

  • Samples for PAP tests, urogenital swabs and urethral swabs

 

Acceptance and test

The user has to go to the Acceptance of the Collection Point with:

  • Referral from the GP or specialist (if he carries out tests with the NHS)
  • Health card
  • Tax code and/or identity document
  • Any exemption card (for pathology, disability, income...)

The administrative employee, after verified the user's identity, provides information regarding to the right to privacy and registers the request for service on a specific portal.

The user is given the report collection form, the invoice containing the surname, name, requested tests and identification labels. Any consent and data collection forms can be delivered.

The user waits for their turn in the room adjacent to the collection point.

The Nurse in the Collection Room, after having identified the user's identity, collects labels and forms and gives information on how to prepare the biological samples to be delivered (urine...).

The nurse labels the tubes necessary for the required tests and carries out the sampling. The Nurse collects any biological samples and labels them.

The internal Auxiliary Staff collects samples from the Collection Point the samples and any corresponding forms and transports them to the sorting point located into the Analysis Laboratory, using special containers.

If it is necessary to repeat the test or the collection, the Administrative Staff will contact the user in order to provide all the relevant information and agree on the day of the repetition.

 

Withdrawal of reports

Digitally signed paper reports are available on the electronic health record.

The paper collection of the reports must instead be carried out by the patient himself or by a person delegated through a specific declaration. The user has to come to the External Reception of the San Rocco Clinical Institute.

The reports are delivered:

  • From 2.00 pm to 3.30 pm from Monday to Friday
