Healthcare Operations Manager

We are seeking an experienced Healthcare Operations Manager to join the Istituti Ospedalieri Bergamaschi branch in Basra, Iraq. The Operations Manager will lead the development and optimization of hospital operations.

This role focuses on overseeing both physical and technological assets, strategic planning of clinical activities, and ensuring the sustainability and efficiency of inpatient and outpatient services. The ideal candidate will collaborate with senior stakeholders to enhance patient flow, re-engineer organizational processes, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations. The Healthcare Operations Manager will report directly to the Hospital Director.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead efforts to meet economic (efficiency, profitability) and qualitative (clinical pathways, patient experience) objectives by optimizing physical and technological assets and planning clinical activities across inpatient and outpatient services.
  • Key tasks include:
    1. Oversee management of operating rooms (scheduling, unit assignment), bed management, and outpatient clinic operations
    2. Work closely with Heads of Departments and other administrative units to streamline patient flow, from first access through discharge and post-acute care
    3. Ensure efficient, timely flow of goods and services to support clinical care processes
    4. Lead initiatives to re-engineer organizational processes for greater efficiency, improved patient satisfaction, and optimized clinical pathways
    5. Ensure hospital admissions and outpatient visits are scheduled according to regulations, especially those concerning waiting times.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in large/medium hospital operations management.
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory.
  • Arabic preferred, but not necessary.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare operations, supply chain management, and regulatory frameworks, particularly in Iraq (preferred).
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in healthcare management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
