Paralegal (Baghdad, Iraq)
We are seeking a skilled Paralegal to join GKSD Healthcare branch in Iraq and provide legal support for the group's operations in the country. This position will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and managing legal documents such as contracts, agreements, and policies in both Arabic and English, ensuring compliance with Iraqi laws. The role will involve conducting legal research, monitoring regulatory changes, and managing relationships with government authorities and third parties. Additionally, the Paralegal will handle confidential case files, provide administrative support, and assist external attorneys to ensure smooth legal processes.
Key responsibilities
- Assist external attorneys or work independently to review and draft legal documents, including contracts, agreements, policies, procedures, and official communications with ministries, authorities, or third parties (e.g., banks, trade offices). Ensure accuracy, professional language in both Arabic and English, and compliance with local laws.
- Conduct legal research using local and international resources to gather information relevant to business-related laws, regulations, and compliance requirements in Iraq.
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations to ensure organizational policies and practices remain compliant with legal requirements.
- Manage contracts and agreements related to procured services, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating terms when necessary.
- Handle confidential information with discretion.
- Create, organize, and maintain case files, legal documents, and correspondence.
- Prepare reports on case specifications.
- Provide administrative support, such as scheduling meetings, maintaining calendars, and managing correspondence.
- Communicate with government authorities and other stakeholders to support legal matters and ensure effective collaboration.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in paralegal studies, legal studies, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant in a law firm, corporate legal department, or government agency (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and documentation.
- Proficiency in conducting legal research using various resources and databases.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong knowledge of Iraqi regulation, especially in the healthcare sector and energy sector (preferable).
- Proficiency in Arabic and English (written and spoken) is mandatory.
