Nurse Manager of Emergency Room (ER)
We are seeking an experienced Nurse Manager to oversee the operations of the Emergency Department (ED) of the Policlinico San Donato branch in Najaf, Iraq. This role requires strong leadership and management skills to ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care while meeting the Hospital's strategic and operational objectives.
The Nurse Manager of the ER will be responsible for both clinical and administrative functions, driving continuous improvement in patient outcomes and staff performance, and ensuring compliance with both international and local Iraqi healthcare regulations. This role involves collaboration across multiple departments and maintaining effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide overall leadership to the Emergency Department nursing team. Ensure optimal staffing levels and performance evaluations while fostering a safe and positive work environment. Address staff issues and conflict resolution, ensuring that all team members work efficiently under high-pressure situations.
- Ensure that the ER delivers high-quality care, focusing on timely triage, treatment, and the safety of all patients. Collaborate with physicians and other departments to optimize clinical processes and patient outcomes. Regularly review and update nursing protocols to align with evidence-based practices and hospital standards.
- Support quality improvement programs within the ER, focusing on enhancing patient outcomes, reducing wait times, and ensuring compliance with accreditation and Iraqi healthcare regulations. Develop and monitor performance metrics to continually evaluate and improve ER operations.
- Report regularly to the Chief Nursing Officer on the Emergency Department’s performance, including staffing, patient care outcomes, and any operational challenges, ensuring alignment with nursing and hospital-wide goals
- Facilitate continuous professional development opportunities for the nursing staff, including ongoing training, certifications, and mentorship programs. Work with local and international partners to develop training programs that align with both global best practices and the Iraqi healthcare context.
- Oversee the effective utilization of nursing-related resources, such as consumables and medical supplies, ensuring they are used efficiently while maintaining high standards of patient care.
- Serve as a key point of contact between the Emergency Department and other hospital units, as well as external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- 10+ years of nursing experience in an Emergency Department or critical care setting.
- Advanced knowledge of emergency care protocols, Iraqi healthcare regulation compliance, and healthcare best practices.
- Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams in high-pressure environments.
- Fluency in both English and Arabic (written and spoken) is mandatory.
Preferred Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively manage a diverse team and engage with patients and stakeholders.
- Experience with budget management in a healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with patient safety standards and quality improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage resources, including optimizing medical supplies and staffing, particularly in environments with potential resource constraints or supply chain challenges.
- Strong adaptability, excellent organizational skills, and outstanding problem-solving abilities.
