Facility Manager – support services (Najaf or Basra based)

We are seeking an experienced Hospital Facility Manager to join either Policlinico San Donato branch in Najaf, Iraq, or Istituti Ospedalieri Bergamaschi branch in Basra, Iraq. The Facility Manager will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating non-clinical support services within the hospital, including, but not limited to cleaning, maintenance, laundry, canteen, and gardening. This role ensures the efficient operation of these services to maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment of the hospital for patients, staff, and visitors. The Hospital Facility Manager will work closely with the service providers/contractors and internal teams to deliver high-quality support services that meet Gruppo San Donato standards and local regulatory requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate all general services within the hospital, including, but not limited to cleaning, maintenance, laundry, canteen, and gardening services.
• Manage vendors for outsourced services such as cleaning, maintenance, laundry, canteen, and gardening, ensuring service quality and contract compliance
• Ensure that all service providers (internal teams and external contractors) deliver high-quality services in a timely and efficient manner.
• Monitor and evaluate the performance of service providers and/or internal teams, addressing any issues or inefficiencies as they arise.
• Develop and implement operational plans and schedules for general services to ensure the hospital operates smoothly.
• Ensure cleanliness, hygiene, and maintenance standards are met and maintained across all hospital areas, including patient rooms, public areas, and staff facilities.
• Develop and implement quality control protocols for non-clinical support services, ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental regulations, and infection prevention and control standards from a maintenance and cleaning perspective.
• Conduct regular inspections of hospital facilities to assess the quality of cleaning, maintenance, and other services.
• Develop improvement plans when needed to enhance service quality and operational efficiency, , including staff training and development programs to ensure continuous improvement.
• The Hospital Facility Manager will be the primary point of contact between the hospital management and the contractors service teams (cleaning, canteen, laundry, gardening,…).
• Maintain strong communication with contractors, providing feedback and addressing concerns to ensure continuous improvement.
• Ensure all general services comply with hospital policies, industry standards, and relevant health and safety regulations, , while reporting on KPIs related to service efficiency, resource usage, and compliance.
• Report regularly to senior management on the performance of support services, including insights on efficiency, resource utilization, and compliance with hospital standards

 

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics or related field.
• 5+ years of experience managing general services, facilities, or support services preferably in hospital settings.
• Proven experience in managing large teams and coordinating with multiple service providers.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Fluency in both English and Arabic (written and spoken) is mandatory
